About us
The Ava TrueView Theater is owned by Bread of Life Giving and Sharing, an non-profit charity dedicated to providing food, clothing and other basic necessities to those in need. The Ava theater is a supplement to our other two venues which are used for these purposes.
Bread of Life Giving and Sharing has no payroll; we work solely with volunteers.
TRUE BREW CAFE & COFFEE SHOP
At True Brew, our menu consists of coffee, sandwiches, wraps, salads, along with some new menu items such as grilled salmon, pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs and a full breakfast menu such as a omelets, croissants, breakfast burritos, and traditional breakfast with bacon & eggs, grits and toast. As a service to our community, we also offer Hand-Dipped Ice Cream at only 50 cents per scoop! You can pre-order your meal, even days in advance right here from the top of this web page, through our Facebook page, or through the FoodBooking App on your phone.
All proceeds from each of our venues are used to assist the poor in our community. At True Brew, if anyone is otherwise unable to afford meals at home, they can simply point to the Free Meal Card on the table or front register, or mention their need to one of our volunteers. The meal will be at no charge or for a donation of any amount, no questions asked. We do this so that everyone can maintain their dignity, avoiding the stigma sometimes associated with soup kitchens.
The downstairs portion of True ‘Brew is currently used as collection and distribution center for food and garden produce. This provides a way for you to give, and we’ll share freely!
At Bread of Life Giving and Sharing, our primary goal is to help address the 27% food insecurity rate among Douglas County children (source: Missouri Kids Count). This is more than twice the national average. Douglas County is a community with many wonderful people, but it is also the third poorest county in the state with more than 1 out of 3 Douglas County Children living in poverty (35%).
It may seem hard to believe, but childhood hunger is a real issue in our community and CNN once did a news piece highlighting the problem in southern Missouri.
So our goal is to love, bless and serve all we come in contact with. You can learn more about us by clicking the links at the top of this page.
Additionally, please visit True Brew’s Facebook page and click “Like” to keep yourself updated on the latest news.
Inspired by our Savior’s example of love and service, and the special place that children held in His heart, we are offering this service to the residents of Douglas County and beyond.
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
We have no claim of perfection, no motive of personal gain, and no desire to judge anyone. We simply want to show love and be a blessing to each and every person we serve.
We are available for any prayer requests you may have, and we respect everyone’s right to believe as they choose.
